Kos is owned and managed by the top culinary school in the country, First Gourmet Academy.

In Greece, an ouzeria is a type of Greek tavern that serves ouzo (Greek liquor), as well as mezedes (a selection of small dishes consumed with alcohol, or as appetizers before the main course). Kos Greek Ouzeri in UP Town Center definitely lives up to that image!

Kos, owned and managed by First Gourmet Academy, was conceived so that our graduates learn the ropes in an actual restaurant. Based on the positive reviews and happy diners, it seems the First Gourmet Academy graduates are doing very well!

Mezedes

When dining at Kos, it is recommended that you start off with the freshly baked bread and tasty spreads and dips. With the variety of dips—from the fresh hummus to the tzatziki (yogurt and cucumber with garlic and dill), or the spinach and artichoke to the roasted cauliflower—it’s hard to choose a favorite. Just take your pick from the bread basket and be sure to try a bit of each!

Soupas and Salatas

Aside from mezedes, Kos also offers soups (soupas) and salads (salatas) to start off your meal, all of which are made with the best, the freshest and the most authentic ingredients. Try the Kos Salata—mixed greens, sun-dried tomatoes, fried figs, caramelized nuts, cheese and grapes, tossed with honey grape vinaigrette. The traditional Greek soups are also a winner!

Authentic Greek Dishes

As tempting as it is to get your fill of the tasty appetizers, make sure you still have room for Kos’ selection of main dishes. The souvlaki (skewered meat) is a crowd favorite. Select from pork, chicken or lamb, and enjoy it with roasted vegetables, yogurt garlic sauce and bell pepper sauce.

Of course, Greek cuisine is not complete without gyros, or meat wrapped in pita bread with yogurt garlic sauce, sliced tomatoes and onions. Choose from pork, chicken or lamb, and enjoy a hefty serving with a side of fries.

Kos has flavorful meat and seafood dishes that take you on a Mediterranean culinary trip. The moussaka—a traditional dish resembling lasagna with layers of potatoes, eggplants, minced meat sauce and béchamel—is hearty and comforting, making it one of Kos’ bestsellers.

Also try the Greek take on roast chicken, the kotopoulo me rigarantes skaras (zesty chicken oregano), as well as the grilled pork chop and grilled lamb chops.

The traditional Greek pastas are not to be missed. Kos’ Greek Pasta, for example, uses simple ingredients like roasted cherry tomatoes, feta cheese and fresh herbs, but does not fall short on flavor.

Glyka

A meal at Kos is not complete without one of its traditional Greek desserts (glyka is the Greek word for “sweetness”). The baklava is an obvious choice, but if you’re looking to try something new, have a serving of the lokoumades—fried dough bathed in sweet syrup sprinkled with cinnamon and walnuts. The Greek yogurt with caramelized nuts and honey is also a great way to round off your meal.
