First Gourmet Academy was recently awarded the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation (ACFEF) Quality Program certificate for excellence in Culinary Arts education. This highlights First Gourmet Academy’s prowess in providing its students top quality education.

Founded in 1929 in New York City, the American Culinary Federation (ACF) was crafted by three chefs’ organization: the Société Culinaire Philanthropique, Vatel Club and Chefs de Cuisine Association of America. ACF is a prestigious organization for and by chefs and cooks. It aims to promote and empower the professional image of American chefs worldwide through the various levels of culinary education.

The ACF, in its mission, changed the way we perceived chefs by promoting the position of executive chefs from service status to the professional category. It was through their continuous efforts that the culinary industry has rapidly improved in its development. As of today, ACF has a total of 17,500 productive members that belong to nearly 200 chapters in the four regions across the United States.

The ACF Education Foundation (ACFEF) Quality Program status recognizes culinary and hospitality-related programs that meet or exceed the standards of the culinary industry in its training and curriculum. It is on this program that First Gourmet Academy was recognized.

First Gourmet Academy Director Mats Loo, following his vision for the Academy, submitted an application to ACF. It was through Michelle Whitfield, ACFEF Education Manager, that First Gourmet Academy was awarded with the certificate of recognition. The status will run for a period of three years until December 31, 2018. This shows that First Gourmet Academy has not only high standards but passion as well when it comes to the culinary arts!
